My Sc is all done and back home. Here are
a few final Paint Shop pictures and a few back home in the garage
after I installed allot of the trim parts! I have a ways to go still. (Like
all the rubber on the doors and trunk! But Spent all night getting
allot of it back together!! I'll take an outside picture tomorrow
evening. I was so busy I forgot so just have the garage pictures!
I have to wait for a week before I can wash all the dust off it
as well as wash the dust out of the engine bay. But its getting
there!!! I got the B scheme as close as I could to correct. But
remember they were a stripe kit so each one is probably a little
different. Depending on who put them on!!! |

Well the car is all white and the Red and
Blue Stripe is done. All that is needed is the Black 1/8 inch pin
stripe outlining the red and blue, and the car is done with the painter.
Then my work begins, with putting back on all
the lights, and bumpers, and door handles, and hood scoop, and Mirrors,
and new door, and Trunk rubber and etc etc etc! Been along time coming..but
so far so good!!!

June 3, 2005 Discovery- It's a B car!
|

|
Well after the Painter got a hold of my SC he
was doing some more sanding and we uncovered some blue stripe material
on the lower Rocker panels and the lower front fenders. It looks
like my SC was a B Scheme!!!!!!!!!!! I Knew when I was sanding I
saw blue areas lower on the Rockers and when I cut out the old Quarters.
Glad he called me as I am taking the car back to Original B Scheme
Like it was from the Factory. I prefer the A Scheme..But want to
keep it as Original on the outside as possible. I am how=ever painting
the B Scheme Stripes on!! Hopefully I can get them as close as possible!!!
What a find!!!
My SC getting 3 coats of Primer (besides the
ones I already did. Of course most of mine has been sanded off as
the painter used a glide coat and sands the glide coat off until
the body is straight as an arrow. 3 more coats and another sanding
and it will be ready for the paint booth (probably Tuesday or Wed
this coming week!

After weeks of sanding, and sanding and sanding (Did I mention sanding??)
the SC is about ready for paint. I sanded (There is that dirty word
again!!!!) the whole darn car down to bare metal and the Treated
the bare metal with an etching Primer and the primed the car with
2K Primer (A 2 part primer made especially to go over etching Primer).
Then I started on the body work. The different shades of Primer
are because instead of getting out the gun every time I sanded (see
its that word again!) an area that I
repaired I just used a special Primmer in a can (and man was that
stuff expensive). I got the can Primer from the local paint supplier
place...(Don't use just any primer!!!). I removed the scoop and
sanded that all down as well as under the scoop but I bolted it
back on for the pictures. I also have the SC specific mirrors in
place (Not in the picture) so I could drill the required holes!
I have also made sure that all the emblems were ready to go and
holes drilled where they belong. I had to drill three holes in my
new taillight panel where a Rambler Emblem goes. I drove it to that
painter today and showed him what I had done. He was very
impressed and asked if I wanted a job there! I told him I'd work
a few nights a week there as long as I didn't have to sand!!!! Well
I guess sanding was part of the deal, so I passed...LOL Did I mention
How much I really hate sanding now!!! I drop off the car on Friday
and he expects 10 days (Not including weekends!!). I figure about
two weeks in more like it! I can't wait. The next pictures you get
from me will be of the SC/Rambler in paint! Wooohooo! |

After a hard days work ...I had the Passenger
side Door and Rocker panel as well as the front Fender all sanded
down. I also had the new replacement trunk lid all sanded down as
well. I then masked off the other portions of the car and sprayed
on the etching sealer over the bare metal, followed up with the
epoxy Primer.
The whole car is now sealed and in primer!!!
I have some minor bodywork to do and then one more prime coat and
its off to the painter for the final touch up body work and paint!!!
I'll keep you posted!! It's Getting there!!!!! |
