I went out to the car tonight and here is some additional information to post.
THE FRAME RAIL WHERE THE STEERING BOX BOLTS UP THE NUMBERS ARE HARD TO READ. BUT IT SHOWS 7474 AND IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING BEFORE THAT BUT I CAN NOT MAKE IT OUT. THE NUMBERS IN THE DECK LID RIB, I CAN NOT MAKE OUT, THIS IS A GUESS AS BEST AS I CAN SEE THERE IS TOO MUCH PAINT OVER IT, I BELIEVE IT SHOWS A 313 AND I CAN NOT MAKE OUT THE REST AT ALL. I TRIED TO TAKE PICTURES BUT THE NUMBERS ARE SO SHALLOW THAT THEY WOULD NOT SHOW UP, NOT EVEN ON A TRANSFER.
Thanks, Dan
The frame should match the vin and should read X257474, so one could assume that this does have 4 of the correct numbers and should be sufficient proof of its vin #. identified as a HURST SC/Rambler.
It is my opinion, that this HURST SC/Rambler would make a spectacular addition to any AMC or Muscle enthusiast's garage. At this point of restoration, one could decide to finish the car in almost any direction, you could go concourse or show car / race car / driver. Either way, obtaining one of these rare muscle cars in today's market is a financial challenge at best. All parts aside, the cost and time alone to get a car to this point is worth every penny you pay for it and anyone who does this caliber of committed restoration can tell you that. The registry and it's members promote the preservation of these cars and their history no matter which way the car is preserved and are happy to lend an ear and offer suggestions for all your problems in your restoration saga.
This registry and it's members will assist anyone who seeks our assistance in tracking down parts and service providers to help restore another rare piece of muscle car history. Good luck bidding and congratulations to the future Scrambler owner!
