How much does it cost?
The staging process is $100/hour, depending on the size of the manifold, one hour of blasting time is good for 3 to 5 stages. The total restoration time and cost largely depends on 3 factors: The size of the part to be restored, the degree of contamination to be removed or damage to be repaired and the amount of detailing required for the final desired profile. Every manifold will vary in time and there for in most cases it would difficult to give exact cost quotes. Some times two identical manifolds that came from different casting batches may or may not take the same amount of time to refinish. Other things can be unpredictable in time assessment such as the original density of the casting, the age of the piece and current condition of the casting. I recommend as a good rule, is to budget for the high side and that way, if the part takes less time to restore it is a pleasant surprise when your final cost is less than you expected.
There is a $100.00 minimum charge for any manifold. Average cost for Aluminum Manifold example: Most small block Chevy and small block Ford intake manifolds range from $100 - $200,
Most medium sized intake manifolds like AMC V-8 or Big Block Chevy $200 - $300.
Larger pieces like Ford big block or complex x-rams or tunnel rams start at $300 and go up from there by the hour. Show quality finishes are pieces that resemble jewelry, these pieces can take anywhere from 5 - 20 additional stages until the satin profile is achieved.

What is Extreme Glass Beading - the staging process?
The process of staging in general refers to the multiple stages that a piece will go through from start to the desired finish, this process itself although can have as many as 20 stages, the process as a whole can be explained in 3 basic steps.
1 - CLEANING STAGES - First a good degreasing bath, damage repairs, masking machine surfaces and thread protection and other blasting preparations, then a good blast of uniform media matching the profiles surface for the cleaning stage is repeated until all contamination is removed.
2 - DETAILING STAGES - Casting flaw repairs, Hand detailing for show pieces, contour repairs and shot peening for sealing qualities. This stage is repeated over and over in multiple stages using numerous types of media to control the surface until the desired profile is achieved.
3 - FINISHING STAGES - A Final profiling media is chosen for the desired finish. The final media and the number of stages applied with it will have an effect on the final color, luster, reflection and sheen qualities of the parts.
* If no casting detailing is required, this stage can be done directly after stage 1, but will not produce the same desired finish.
How do I keep this finish clean? & How long will this finish last?
Parts with full staging includes surface shot peening, this process will seal the surface making the surface difficult to penetrate and naturally easy to keep clean. Air, water and chemicals are the only real threat. Manifolds can be waxed proir to instaltion, but in most cases a gentle rub with a soft terry towel cloth and a few drops of clean engine oil or automatic transmission fluid will do the trick. The very light film of oil on the smooth surface will protect the finish from corrosion and tarnishing, and makes future clean ups a breeze with a simple baby wipe.
Do we stock cores?
Yes we stock cores, although they rarely sit on the shelf for very long. We take core exchanges of any kind when purchasing one of our refinished items, but sorry, we do not sell un restored cores.
Do we buy cores or take trade in's?
We will buy cores for cash and take trade ins of any make, but can offer a better core value for trade ins on restoration jobs. Core value depends on condition and make of trade in. We are easy to barter with.
